Faculty of Literature Students Were Successsful at the Russian Language Olympics
Under the collaboration of the Russian Federation State Directorate, Turkish-Russian Cultural Foundation and the Russian Communities’ Friendship University in Moscow (RUDN), the 1st Russian Language Olympiad "OLIMPRUS," a Turkish inter-university competition, was held on November 23-24, 2014 at Istanbul Aydin University .
Students from the Departments of Russian Language and Literature, Russian Interpretation and Translation as well as Vocational College students taking elective Russian classes were represented at the Olympics. Olympic participants included 140 students from 17 Turkish universities.
Tuğçe Melike Kalebaşı, a student from Erciyes University’s Faculty of Literature/ Department of Russian Language and Literature Department, received a gold medal for showing outstanding success and placed first in the Talent Competition. Cemil Kökçel received a bronze medal and placed third in the language competition. In addition to the gold medal, Tuğçe Melike Kalebaşı will be attending as a two-week summer school that will be held in L. Tolstoy's estate Yasnaya Polyana in Russia. Cemil Kökçel received her medal and various gifts from a famous writer's grandson, Vladimir Tolstoy.
