İbrahim Sözdutmaz, the founding member of Klonbiyotek Biotechnology and Phd. Lecturer Virology department of veterinary medicine at Erciyes University,  provided information in his studies on calf diarrhea regarding early diagnosis that could ensure early detection of illness and provide the veterinary physician in the most accurate way. Highlighting that calf diarrhea creates enormous problems for animal breeders as well as causing large number of losses, İbrahim Sözdutmaz, Phd. Lecturer at Lecturer at Virology department of veterinary medicine at Erciyes University, said, “As Klonbiyotek Biotechnology A.Ş, we have been established under the financial support from TÜBİTAK 1512. Our company has been established under the project in order to develop a kit that could diagnose the calf diarrhea, which is one of the most important issues in our country, and reasons of it in an accurate way in the field. By the same token, there is no production activities for diagnosis kits in our country aimed at minimizing the calf diarrhea and the losses brought about by this illness. To this end, we have conducted these studies in order to minimize our dependence on external sources”

Indicating that the Project is prospective to provide substantial support both to national economy and the development of Livestock fully based on national and domestic resources, Phd. Lecturer İbrahim Sözdutmaz went on as follows:

“Samples were collected from the places where this disease was observed in our region and 4 samples were isolated from the samples and then the development of rapid diagnostic kit was completed by developing antibodies against these factors. Our product has already been developed and ERBAN Angel Investment Network, which was founded by Erciyes Technopark, has invested in this product. After this investment, in 2019, we intend to move to mass production and to establish kits that will diagnose calf diarrhea and the factors that will cause these diseases, and then to produce other rapid diagnostic kits that our country needs in accordance with local and national opportunities. From this point of view, we aim to contribute both to the national economy and to the development of livestock”.

Stressing that accurate treatment protocol would facilitate the work of veterinary physician, İbrahim Sözdutmaz, Phd. Lecturer at Virology department of veterinary medicine at Erciyes University ,

“With the rapid diagnosis kit developed by the prototype stage, it is possible to recognize the factors which are the biggest causes of calf diarrhea as well as determining the agent in a short time by putting the stool sample taken from a single animal into the kit in a short period of time, thus facilitating the work of veterinary physician to identify an accurate treatment protocol.”
