Viktor Matis, the Ambassador of Hungary to Turkey in Ankara, visited our Rector. Osman Şahbaz, Honorary Consul of Hungary in Kayseri, accompanied the Ambassador.
During this visit, the Ambassador and our Rector exchanged ideas on possible educational and research collaborations between Erciyes University and the universities in Hungary.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çalış stated that Erciyes University is a research university and continued his words as follows:
“Erasmus student exchange being in the first place, we would like to have collaborations with the universities in Hungary. We are even planning to go to Hungary on this matter. There is an effective collaboration between Turkey and Hungary; therefore, we want to develop collaborations especially between our university and the universities in Hungary. We can cooperate in many fields such as student and academic staff exchange and R&D programs with more universities. Of course, we are experienced especially in certain fields. We have Research Centers and qualified academic staff. We can cooperate with the universities in Hungary in the fields at which they are good.”
Viktor Matis pointed out that the collaborations between Turkey and Hungary are extensive and also so active and explained as follows:
“Our existing relations with Kayseri are also active. We provide state scholarship in education with a quota of 150 people to Turkish students every year. This is a full state scholarship. It includes 50 undergraduates, 50 graduates, 30 Ph d students, 20 researchers. We want the students in Kayseri to make use of this scholarship further. In addition, we highly care about bilateral co-operations between universities. We started this in Ankara. I would like to state the following words about R&D in particular: Mustafa Varank was in Hungary last month and had various negotiations there. After this visit, TUBITAK Chairman was assigned. The Chairman will go to Hungary in a short time and have several negotiations especially regarding scientific and R&D matters. One university and one company both from Turkey and Hungary will cooperate by means of two plus two project. In this sense, they will make necessary agreements with TUBITAK soon. There are a lot of opportunities ahead of us.”
At the end of this visit, our Rector and the Ambassador presented gifts to each other.
